UNO Online - Pretty Decent

UNO Online on silvergames.com is a decent attempt at providing an online variation of the popular UNO card game. We played it for a while and here are our thoughts on it.The game starts off by loading with Flash. The screen displays the instructions for the game, such as the objective of the game and what each button does. It also shows you what each card is for and how they interact with each other and the players.

The thing about UNO is that most people will automatically assume that they know how to play, so they'll usually skip the game (the way I did). Once I got into the game, I knew the basic rules to keep me afloat, but the interface wasn't exactly "easy" to understand. The screen has a lot of buttons that aren't very "intuitive", so it took me a while during my first round to figure out what each button meant.

The game is pretty quick-paced once you get used to the actual interface though. The game begins with each player choosing a "card", and the biggest card determines who starts. After that, it automatically deals you 7 cards, and from there, you can start playing UNO. The goal is to reduce the amount of cards you have in your hand to 0 before your opponents. You have regular numbered cards that are colored, either red, green, blue, or yellow. You have the reverse cards that brings the turn back to the last player, and you have +2 or +4 cards that adds cards to the next opponents hands.

As the game goes around, if you don't have any card that can be played out onto the table, you have to pick a card. The button for this was in an odd position in the game, so if you didn't read the instructions, it might not be clear immediately. Once you reach the last card in your hand, you HAVE to press the UNO button on the bottom left before your turn. If you fail to do so, you have to add two cards to your hand. If you can play the last card in your hand after you pressed UNO, you win.

The game continues on for several rounds, and it's always a 3-player game. Overall, UNO Online isn't a bad alternative to the UNO mobile game if you're looking for some UNO fun with friends!
