Warland 2 is a visually impressive multiplayer online first-person
shooter browser game for use with the Unity web player. This particular
title is of the Sci-Fi genre. When first jumping into the game one of
the first things you will notice is that the load times are incredibly
long. This seems to make sense, as the visuals are pretty impressive for
a game played in the browser. The music is eerie and relatively cool,
but when the load times trawl on and on it begins to get repetitive.
When the load is all up you are taken to a screen where you select your
team. From here you can see who is currently playing and the amount of
people on each team. You pick a team and join the big war! One of the first
things you might notice is that the controls are not exactly intuitive.
Moving through the science fiction world created for you by the
developers is a little bit difficult, and you may find yourself
frustrated if you attempt to look around and move your character at the
same time. It is difficult to determine whether this is a bug, or a
feature included to simulate a more realistic space combat experience.
Assuming it is the latter, the feature is not well implemented.
While moving around is a bit clunky, the shooting mechanism is fairly
well implemented. However, due to the hindered movement you may find
yourself (more often than not) attempting to run at an enemy then stop
with them perfectly within your sights. Unfortunately, this often
doesn't turn out so well if your goal is to stay alive while killing
your opponent.
The level design is interesting, and you appear to be traversing an
abandoned space port which has been set to ruin (more than likely by the
firefight which you are currently taking part in.) The visuals and
sound design work well with the map available, and while you can play
indoors and outside it still leaves much to be desired.
All things considered Warland 2 is an exciting proof of concept game,
but the amount of bugs and glitches make it appear to still be in early
Alpha stages. With steady improvement and a little love from the
developers this game could be a seriously fun and exciting first person
shooter. In its current state, however, it is an incredibly frustrating
play.
HERE you can play Warland 2. Enjoy!
